Similar happened to me at O’hare coming from KC on United for my Aer Lingus next fight to London and had 7 hours in between where I had to sit across from the Aer Lingus counter waiting for it to open for 5 hours and not be able to pass International Terminal security to get to amenities and lounges. I’m just afraid if I have to have for the Qantas counter to open at the SFO International Terminal 2 hours before my MEL flight and if i’ll get stuck for 6 out of the 8 hours without that final pass that would get me through security and off to the Cathay Lounge? Or if I have to wait from noon to 6 PM to get my Qantas pass, will I also not be able to access the Centurion before that because I have to wait for Qantas? I already got the “need to check in at the airport” from AA and I leave early AM and I really think they’ll make me wait forever in SFO for the last pass. At what point do you think I’ll get my Qantas boarding pass for the SFO-MEL flight? I fly out of Kansas City to PHX, then PHX-SFO with AA and Qantas SFO-MEL on the same reservation. If you are flying United from Terminal 3, you do not need to leave security. If you are flying from Terminal 2 (American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta and others), you need to leave security and walk 10-12 minutes from the SFO Centurion Lounge. From the SFO Centurion Lounge, it is about a 15-20 minute walk to get to Terminal 1. When I fly from SFO, I usually fly Southwest Airlines, located at Terminal 1. You will then need to go through security again to get to your gate. If your flight is leaving from terminal 1, 2, or International Gates A1-A12, you will need to leave security and walk to the terminal. I jump on the yellow line headed to SFO and I can get there in under 40 minutes (make sure you are on the train that says SFO / San Francisco Airport). Since I work in San Francisco, I usually take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to SFO. I will show you how to get from San Francisco to the SFO Centurion Lounge like a pro.
